The Blind Guitarist

As in all my collage works, various symbols are present in the Blind Guitarist as well. I would like to focus on the butterfly motif. Butterflies are often encountered in my work: cut outs, as the present one, or designed by me, their wings transfer me to a world of enchantment and endless possibilities. In Greek mythology, butterflies symbolize the soul ( ψυχή ) or psyche as is known in English. Hope, Independence and Individuality, three of the inner guides I have incorporated in my collage, have butterfly wings to show their connection to our soul and their ability, that ultimately is ours, to transcend limitations and achieve lightness and joy. So, for me, butterflies are symbols of inspiration and hope.
